Chapter 114: A Complete Turnaround (1)

This bedroom was nearly 100 square meters. Besides a large bed, there was a desk and bookshelves, but it was completely empty. Directly in front was a huge window. The curtains were drawn, letting in a sliver of sunlight. The window was fitted with metal security bars.

There was a door at the back of the bedroom leading to the walk-in closet and the bathroom. There was another door on the side, closed, its destination unknown.

Li Weiyi quickly surveyed the room, then cried out softly through her tears, “It hurts so much.”

Xu Yi placed her on the bed and patted her head. “Still dare to run? Wait and see.”

He sat down beside the bed, took out his phone, and called the doctor. Because of Li Weiyi’s arrival, just in case, the family doctor was on standby, staying at the villa, and arrived immediately.

Seeing the doctor’s respectful and obedient manner towards Xu Yi, Li Weiyi didn’t dare say anything out of turn. The doctor examined her thoroughly, felt a few bones, and smiled: “No bones broken. I’ll apply some ointment to the bruise.”

Li Weiyi: “But my ankle hurts so much I can’t move it.”

Doctor: “It’s probably sprained. Rest in bed more.”

Xu Yi glanced at her, saw the doctor out, then sat down again beside the bed and asked, “Can’t move?”

Before Li Weiyi could answer, he said, “Think carefully before you answer. Are you really willing to sleep in this bed?” Looking into his eyes, Li Weiyi hesitated, but not completely. She lowered her head, pleading, “How about I rest here during the day and go back inside at night? I can get some fresh air, please.”

Xu Yi laughed again, leaning forward, one hand on the headboard, the other on the side. Li Weiyi shrank back a little. He said, “Your little schemes… I just find them amusing. You can sleep outside during the day, but kiss me first.”

Li Weiyi was now in a dilemma. Kissing him was impossible. Not kissing him, however, after all that, she was afraid of angering him.

She turned her head away, got up, and tried to get out of bed to avoid him. Xu Yi seemed to have anticipated her movement, pushed her back onto the bed, grabbed both her hands with one hand, and pinned them above her head, saying, “You did something so dangerous today, almost breaking your bones. Do you know how dangerous that was? I’ve been lenient with you, but you can’t joke around with your own safety.”

Li Weiyi immediately said, “I know I was wrong; I won’t do it again.”

Xu Yi chuckled, “No sincerity; this time you deserve punishment.”

He lowered his head to kiss her lips, but Li Weiyi turned her head to dodge. Just as he was about to kiss her, Xu Yi’s phone rang.

He still held Li Weiyi’s hands with one hand, freeing the other to take his phone out of his pocket. He glanced at the screen, then at her, and said, “Stay put.” He released her.

Li Weiyi quickly sat up; he had already opened the door and left.

Xu Yi walked out of the master suite, the door automatically locking. The villa’s butler was outside, reporting in a low voice, “Mr. Xu, those two are the same people. They have police IDs and say they want to ask you about a murder and kidnapping case.”

They were on the third floor. Xu Yi looked down over the railing and saw a familiar face, Ding Chenmo, and an unfamiliar policewoman sitting on the sofa in the living room.

“Tell them to wait,” Xu Yi said, turning and going back into the master bedroom.

Downstairs, You Mingxu glanced in their direction.

When Xu Yi entered the bedroom, Li Weiyi was still sitting there.

She asked, “Is something wrong?”

Xu Yi didn’t answer but walked closer and asked, “Can you walk by yourself? Or should I carry you back?”

Li Weiyi looked up at him. “Didn’t we agree that I could stay outside during the day? Is… someone coming?”

Xu Yi hadn’t expected her to be so quick-witted. He smiled but didn’t answer. Just as he was about to bend down to pick her up, Li Weiyi darted away from him like a rabbit, heading straight for the door. Xu Yi frowned and turned to chase after her.

This time, Li Weiyi was risking everything, rushing to the door in a few strides. Xu Yi hadn’t expected her sudden attack and was a step too late. Plus, he’d just come in, and the door wasn’t locked. In the blink of an eye, Li Weiyi flung open the door and dashed out.

Xu Yi, tall and long-legged, followed closely behind.

However, as soon as Li Weiyi rushed out, she cursed, “Damn it!”

Outside wasn’t a corridor or a staircase, but another, larger study, with burglar bars on the windows, empty and deserted, seemingly Xu Yi’s private resting place.

Who built such a huge master suite? The rooms were like nesting dolls. Li Weiyi already sensed something was wrong, but she still steeled herself and charged towards the study door. But the footsteps behind her grew closer. Li Weiyi was still a few steps from the door when Xu Yi grabbed her arm firmly. Her heart pounded, but she was unwilling to give up. She screamed towards the door, “Help! Help! Is anyone outside? Help!”

Xu Yi pulled her back, holding her around the waist, and turned to walk back, saying, “Don’t waste your energy. The whole room has the best soundproofing. Even if you scream until you’re hoarse, no one outside can hear you.”

Li Weiyi cursed and kicked him, “You’re a pervert!”

He didn’t speak, carrying her through the study, through the bedroom, pushing open the door to a hidden room, and putting her back on the bed. Li Weiyi’s hair was disheveled, her clothes were disheveled, and she desperately grabbed at him, still trying to fight back. He sighed and said, “That was just anger. I won’t tie you up. Rest, and don’t do anything rash. I’ll come see you again later; be good.”

He finally left, locking the door again. Li Weiyi sat on the bed, hugging her knees, wiping away her tears. The agitation on her face had subsided. She buried her head in her knees again and let out a long sigh.

Zhang Jingchan parked the car across the street and glanced at his watch. Li Yunmo raised his hand and asked, “Boss, what are we waiting for?”

“A black Jeep,” Zhang Jingchan gave a license plate number. “Keep an eye out for it too.”

“How did you know that car would come to this gas station?”

Zhang Jingchan rested one hand on the steering wheel, tapped his fingers a few times, and glanced at him. Li Yunmo then understood—it was related to the cycle.

“Who is he?”
