    Chapter 118: My Girlfriend (2)

Li Weiyi was led upstairs by Zhang Jingchan. He remained silent the whole way. Li Weiyi glanced at him discreetly; his brows were furrowed, his expression calm, showing no emotional fluctuation whatsoever, as if it were just an ordinary day, walking home hand in hand.

So Li Weiyi also lowered her head and remained silent. So much had happened in this one day; she didn’t know what to say to him.

After entering the house, Zhang Jingchan released her hand and said, “There are still a few hours left. Get some rest. We’ll be going through the tunnel tonight.”

Li Weiyi: “Did you see who that person was?”

She remembered that in her previous life, the gas station surveillance footage they had seen captured the perpetrator of the car accident today.

Zhang Jingchan changed into slippers, took off his coat, and tossed it on the sofa, answering, “I saw him; it’s Cheng Chuan.”

Li Weiyi sighed, “It really was him.”

Zhang Jingchan sat down on the sofa, resting his arms on the armrests, tilting his head back, and slowly exhaling, looking very tired, but his dark eyes remained fixed on her.

Li Weiyi felt uneasy under his gaze; it always happened, and she didn’t know why. She said, “I’m going to take a shower and change my clothes.”

    “Go ahead.”

She turned to leave but then remembered something, walked back to him, and said, “I took a shower not because…he didn’t do anything to me.”

Zhang Jingchan didn’t speak but took her hand and kissed it.

Li Weiyi took a long, refreshing shower, feeling much better. When she came out of the bathroom, she found that Zhang Jingchan had already ordered takeout and even set out chopsticks for her. After all that fuss, she was hungry and sat down to eat without a word.

After she finished eating, she noticed that Zhang Jingchan had eaten a lot today. He finished a whole box of rice and all the remaining dishes. She knew his usual appetite; today, he had eaten at least twice as much.

Watching him calmly pack up the takeout boxes, Li Weiyi asked, “How long have you been hungry?”

Zhang Jingchan got up, carried the trash to the door, and said, “Why do you think I’d be hungry?”

Li Weiyi watched his retreating figure, then texted Li Yunmo, “Has he been eating properly these past few days?”

Li Yunmo replied instantly, “Ah, I didn’t even notice until you asked. It seems like I’ve been eating all the food myself these past few days; I’m so full after every meal. Brother Chan isn’t eating much!”

Another message followed: “And he didn’t sleep a wink last night!”

When Zhang Jingchan returned from taking out the trash, Li Weiyi yawned widely. He glanced at his watch and said, “If you’re sleepy, go take a nap.”

    Li Weiyi: “What about you?”

He replied, “I still have some things to discuss with Ding Chenmo.”

“Then hurry up and get into bed when you’re done.”

    “Okay.”

Li Weiyi climbed into bed, leaving the other half empty. She wasn’t actually that sleepy and had intended to pull him up to rest, but as she waited, she actually fell asleep.

When she woke up, two hours had passed.

Another hour later, as dusk fell, she sat up and saw that Zhang Jingchan had somehow pulled up a chair and was sitting in the doorway, his long legs spread apart, his hands on the armrests, his head tilted back—he was asleep.

Li Weiyi tiptoed over, squatted down beside him, rested her head on the armrest, and looked at him. After a few minutes, he suddenly raised his head, opened his eyes, and saw her.

The room was dimly lit. The two gazed at each other in silence. Li Weiyi grabbed his arm, leaned forward, and kissed him. He pressed his other hand against the back of her head, like two parched fish seeking oxygen and moisture in each other’s breath.

They kissed in this position for a while, then Li Weiyi mumbled, “My legs are numb…” She stood up. Zhang Jingchan released her head and chuckled softly.

Li Weiyi straightened up. He sat up, looking up at her, but didn’t move. Li Weiyi kicked his shin: “Something’s wrong with you.”

“What do you mean?” Zhang Jingchan’s voice was even hoarser than during the day.

Li Weiyi grabbed his hand again, pinched it, and said angrily, “I was kidnapped, I narrowly escaped death, and I even saw…saw my brother-in-law get shot right in front of me…” Tears welled up in her eyes. “Even though we can change history and keep my brother-in-law safe tomorrow, I was really terrified. Now that I’m finally back, you, as my boyfriend, don’t seem excited at all. Shouldn’t a normal person be holding me and crying their eyes out, desperately trying to comfort me? You’re acting as if nothing happened!”

She shook off his hand and walked towards the door. Zhang Jingchan stood up abruptly, took a long stride to catch up, grabbed her hand, and pulled her back into his arms. Li Weiyi struggled a couple of times, then buried her face in his chest and didn’t move.

“Want to see me lose control of my emotions for you?”

That question… Li Weiyi gently bit his chest. She clearly felt his arms tighten around her.

“Want to see?” he asked again.

Li Weiyi panicked slightly. The fear of being bombarded with his three questions returned. She said, “Actually, it’s not…” Before she could finish, he swept her up in his arms. Li Weiyi gasped, looking at his face, which was much darker than before, and finally realized the danger this man posed.

She was thrown heavily onto the sheets. Zhang Jingchan was already on top of her, pressing her hands above her head. She heard his slightly heavy breathing and trembled slightly. He glanced at her in the dim light and then kissed her passionately.

First, he ravaged her red lips, kissing her until she was almost breathless, before Zhang Jingchan temporarily stopped and began kissing her forehead, cheeks, nose, down her neck, and collarbone. He unbuttoned each of her brightly colored buttons. Li Weiyi’s voice was as soft as a fledgling bird’s: “No…”

“Didn’t you want to see me like this? I’ll give you what you want!” He pressed down on her hands again, burying his face in her chest. Li Weiyi even curled her toes, wanting to scream and cry, yet unwilling to let him stop. She ran her hands through his black hair, gently stroking it.

Finally, he tasted her entire side, even her waist, before pulling her, disheveled, back into his arms, burying his face in her shoulder, and calming his rapid breathing.

Li Weiyi wasn’t much better off. She felt dizzy, as if flashes of white light were constantly appearing before her eyes. Her body was incredibly sensitive; even the slightest bit of force in his sucking sent electric shocks through her body, causing her to breathe rapidly. This was a feeling no one had ever given her before. Even though the final step was still quite far away, she burst into tears.

Zhang Jingchan kissed away her tears and said, “So silly, what’s there to cry about?”

Li Weiyi: “Are you… alright? Just like that?”

“I’m fine.” He finally got off her, lay back on the bed, and pulled the blanket over his waist. “I’ll calm down and take a shower.”

Li Weiyi didn’t know what to say, so she said, “I won’t provoke you next time; you were so intense.”

He chuckled softly, raised the back of one hand to cover his eyes, only revealing the tip of his nose and chin, and said, “Li Weiyi, it’s not that I don’t care about you; it’s not that I’m not emotional… In all these years, I’ve rarely had such emotional fluctuations as these past two days. Control and suppression are my instincts. Otherwise, I don’t know what I would have done to you. I only managed this much today, and you cried. Do you believe me if I say I’m still holding back most of my emotions and impulses?”

Li Weiyi leaned on his shoulder and whispered, “But I hope that in front of me, you won’t suppress yourself, you won’t hold back, and you can lose control.”

Zhang Jingchan turned his head and met a pair of clear, warm eyes. He suddenly understood; she hadn’t really been angry before, she had done it on purpose, and she understood everything.

Zhang Jingchan’s throat tightened, unable to utter another word, and he rolled over and pinned her down. This round of control and biting finally showed signs of losing control; she even pleaded softly, “I can’t take it anymore, I really can’t take it…” He ignored her, his eyes burning like fire, yet as deep as a well. Finally, his eyes unusually red, he spared her but still held her firmly against his chest.

Li Weiyi nestled obediently against him, gently stroking his body.

“I wish this cycle would end soon,” she said. “Everyone would be alright, no one would die, and all the evildoers would be sent to prison. Then…” She looked up at him, her eyes filled with a smile like the first melting of winter snow: “Let’s have the best love story ever.”

Zhang Jingchan lowered his head and kissed her, promising, “I’ve wanted to tell you this for a long time: I’ll do whatever you can imagine.”
