    Chapter 56.

The soup on the fire was bubbling away, and Morin and I stared at each other, speechless for a long time.

Just then, there was a noise outside; someone had returned. Mop’s voice rang out clearly: “Morin!” Morin jumped and ran to the living room.

This means that Mu Xian had also returned.

I rubbed my slightly flushed face.

So what if he knows? It wasn’t my fault, and he wouldn’t have done anything to me. I was actually more worried about him; his personality might not be able to handle it. Don’t be too upset.

As soon as he reached the entrance to the living room, he saw Mu Xian, dressed in a crisp military uniform, sitting on the sofa, his pale face expressionless. Mop stood behind him, while Morin stood in front of him with his head bowed.

“…A thousand frog jumps every day, night patrol for a month.” His voice was so soft and gentle that it made your heart tremble.

“I understand.” Morin looked aggrieved, his voice already trembling with tears.

Mu Xian was already punishing Morin, her accomplice? Everyone knew that Morin disliked sports and was terrified of the dark, so punishing him for both was really going to be a disaster.

Mu Xian had always been lenient with Morin, but this time, he punished him so severely. It seems he was truly angry.

I couldn’t be disloyal to Morin.

    “Mu Xian,” I called out.

The three of them looked at me at the same time. Morin looked aggrieved, Mop was calm, and Mu Xian had deep eyes and a cold expression.

“Don’t punish Morin.” I walked to Morin’s side and said without fear, “I was the one who dragged him there that day; he was just trying to protect me. And who would have thought that Yi Pucheng, disguised as Adop, would…do it with the nurse in the ward?”

As soon as I finished speaking, Mop looked up at me, his eyes wide, as if he wanted to say something but couldn’t. Mu Xian, on the other hand, raised an eyebrow and looked at me, his sharp black eyes seeming to radiate a chilling aura.

I was taken aback by that reaction…

I glanced at Mop, who silently shook his head at me.

This means… Mu Xian didn’t know before?

    I……

Oh no! How could I have gone completely mad like Morin?! I should have known better; Mop was very sensible. Why would he tattle on me like this? Mu Xian had no idea before; I’ve just given myself away!

Even if I wasn’t too guilty before, I was now so guilty I couldn’t speak. But Merlin, standing beside me, was still adding with a mournful face, “Commander, we really didn’t mean it. And I reacted very quickly, immediately pulling the curtain down. Miss didn’t see much.”

After he finished speaking, everyone fell silent, and the room suddenly became unusually quiet.

“You…” Mu Xian stared at me and slowly spoke, “You saw Yi Pucheng having sex with another woman?” His voice was unusually soft, but I knew very well that this was his expression of dark anger.

“…Hmm.” I lowered my head, feeling extremely embarrassed.

Morin was stunned, then realized what was happening, and muttered to herself in a daze, “The Commander didn’t know? Then why am I being punished?”

Mop whispered, “The Commander punished you because you didn’t provide 24-hour protection for Miss when Yi Pucheng stormed into the hospital.”

Mu Xian suddenly looked up at Mop: “You know too.”

Mop immediately fell silent as well.

The four of them were silent for a while, then Mu Xian spoke slowly again: “How much did you see?”

I was about to say that I couldn’t see anything because the clothes were covering everything when I heard that idiot Morin honestly reply, “I only saw the lower half.”

A phrase instantly popped into my head: “It isn’t the god-like opponents I fear; it’s the pig-like teammates…”

Mu Xian stared at me, his eyes clouded over, deep and gloomy. I didn’t know what to say; it wasn’t my fault.

At this moment, Mop coughed lightly and said, “We do five thousand frog jumps every day and patrol the night shift for six months.” Morin exclaimed, “Ah,” and was pulled out by Mop.

    Mu Xian remained silent.

Silence returned to the room. Mu Xian remained silent, his face still grim. I sat down beside him and put my arm around his waist. “Don’t be angry. It was an accident. Yi Pucheng’s just an irrelevant person. To me, he’s like a piece of wood.”

To my surprise, those words offended him, and his brows furrowed even more. He gave me a gloomy look, and his voice sounded somewhat unsteady: “…Go back to your room first.”

I had no choice but to get up, walk to the bedroom door, and turn around to see him pick up the phone with a cold expression.

I waited for a long time, but he didn’t return to his room. When I went to the living room, he was nowhere to be seen; even his military cap and gloves were gone.

I waited until late into the night, but Mu Xian still hadn’t returned. Before going to sleep, I stood on the balcony. In the quiet garden at night, there were only two tall, thin figures, jumping around the house incessantly.

I woke up just before dawn, and the bed next to me was still empty. I groggily got up to get a drink of water and suddenly saw a dark figure sitting alone on the sofa.

“Awake?” a soft and familiar voice.

    It was Mu Xian.

I turned on the light and froze.

He sat naked, upright like a marble statue. His dark eyes stared at me thoughtfully. I wondered how long he had been watching me in the dim light of the room.

“Where have you been?” I asked softly.

“I have some things to take care of,” he replied softly, getting up and walking towards me. I figured his “some things to take care of” must be related to Yi Pucheng. I decided not to ask, lest I add fuel to the fire.

The bed dipped slightly as he sat down beside me, still expressionless. I was about to say something to comfort him when he picked me up and placed me between his parted thighs, my face less than 10 centimeters from the thick, muscular thing in the jungle.

My cheeks felt a little hot.

Does he want me to…take it into my mouth?

Although we were already very familiar with each other’s bodies, Mu Xian had never made this request—I thought it was because he preferred a more direct approach, or maybe he felt sorry for me because it looked like it couldn’t be held in my mouth at all.

But today, he was provoked by Yi Pucheng, so… that was why he had this idea.

We were practically husband and wife now, so I didn’t mind this. But it was the first time, and my heart was pounding. I swallow hard, my cheeks getting hotter and hotter, and just as I was about to stick out my tongue, I hear a low, husky voice say, “Hua Yao, come closer and look at me.”

I was taken aback. Look at him? He just wanted me to look at him?

Because I’d seen Yi Pucheng before, did he now want me to see him?

I couldn’t help but laugh and said softly, “Don’t be upset; I don’t remember what Yi Pucheng looks like at all.”

He remained silent, his eyes still gloomy and his face tense.

I was silent for a moment, then said softly, “Mu Xian, I only want to see you, just you.”

His gaze softened, he gave a soft “hmm,” and pulled me into his arms, his face still cold.

We were silent for a while, and then I said, “Don’t punish Morin and Mop tomorrow. Although they knew about it but didn’t tell you, they were just worried that you would feel uncomfortable.”

“Um,” he said after a moment of silence, “I’m sorry.”

My heart skipped a beat, and I lowered my head to gently take the tip into my mouth. I felt it tremble slightly. When I looked up, his originally gloomy eyes were filled with surprise and passion.

After a while, his gaze became terrifyingly intense, and his handsome face was flushed.

Seeing him like this, my heart was pounding, and I felt a sweet warmth in it. But my lips couldn’t hold back any longer.

“My mouth’s so sore,” I spat out. This was much more uncomfortable than I had imagined. But as soon as I looked up, he gently pressed me back down.

“Continue.” His voice was hoarse and even trembling slightly. “Hua Yao… continue.”

That night, although I calmed Mu Xian down, he was still more agitated and intense than usual. Several times, I nearly lost control. Eventually, I couldn’t take it anymore and screamed. When I was exhausted and held tightly in his arms, I realized something—he hadn’t been using his full strength because he was considerate of me.

It was already bright outside. He held me as we sat on the bed, his eyes lowered as he stared at me. I thought of my earlier shouting and felt both ashamed and embarrassed, so I sullenly nestled in his arms.

After a while, he asked in a deep voice, “What are your thoughts on the wedding?”

Only then did I look up.

“I didn’t ask you last time,” he said softly.

I was still feeling down, so I replied somewhat stiffly, “Whatever!”

He was silent for a moment, then suddenly grabbed my chin, forcing me to look at him: “Unhappy?”

    I remained silent.

He looked at me and, after a while, suddenly said in a calm tone, “You just shouted…”

“Don’t say a word! Not a single word!” I quickly reached out and covered his mouth.

He stared at me, a slow smile rising in his dark eyes. I also remembered how I had acted just now and the fragmented words I had uttered, and felt embarrassed and ashamed. I bit my lip, keeping a straight face and ignoring him.

He held me tightly in his arms and said softly, “Have them prepare the wedding plan; would you like to take a look?”

    I nodded sullenly.

In the following days, Mu Xian returned to normal in his interactions with me. However, although he canceled the punishment for Morin and Mop, he didn’t give me a friendly look and was clearly still bothered by the incident.

On the afternoon of the third day, my mood became somewhat heavy because of something.

For the past few days, Mop had been searching the entire galaxy’s database, following the poem from my dream that I memorized. Today, he got the results—nothing.

Mu Xian and I sat on the sofa, listening to Mop’s report: “…I also consulted neurology experts, and this situation’s unlikely to be accidental; there are only two possibilities…”

My heart jumped into my throat.

Mop said in a deep voice, “First, the young lady had heard this poem somewhere before, but she forgot it herself, though her subconscious remembered it. So after being shaken by the mental force, she remembered it again.”

I was taken aback: “Impossible. This poem’s very special; if I had heard it before, I would definitely remember it.”

Mop replied, “Perhaps you heard it before you can remember, maybe when you were two or three years old?”

I shook my head: “My parents died a long time ago, and my grandmother never recited this poem to me.”

Mop nodded: “We will continue to search for civilian information on Earth and other planets to see if we can find any clues.”

“The second possibility?” Mu Xian stared at him and asked calmly.

“The first time Miss heard that voice, the first time she heard the complete poem, it was within the mental shockwave environment of yours, Commander. We speculate that some unpredictable changes occurred that affected Miss.”

There were several possibilities—for example, what the young lady heard might even be a voice from the other side of the universe, or perhaps the poem was simply a hallucination. It was impossible to draw a conclusion at this time.

Mop’s voice sounded very serious, and as soon as he finished speaking, Mu Xian and I both fell silent.

“But I still feel uneasy.” I grabbed Mu Xian’s arm. “That person said, ‘Kill him.’ Mu Xian, could someone be trying to harm you?”

Mu Xian stared at me and smiled slightly. Mop also smiled: “Miss, you don’t need to worry about that.”

    “Why?” I asked, puzzled.

Mop replied with some pride, “Miss, you can rest assured. After this burst of mental power in space, the Commander’s mental strength is even stronger than before. Now, his mental strength level is recognized as the best in the galaxy. Under normal circumstances, his mental strength can spontaneously react and protect his body. Common attacks and external forces can no longer cause him damage. We have also tested that his highest mental strength can withstand a nuclear attack. Therefore, I think that anyone who can harm him hasn’t yet been born.”

I was taken aback and looked at Mu Xian with overwhelming joy: “So you’re this strong? That’s great; then I don’t have to worry anymore. You… are really amazing.”

Perhaps I spoke too sincerely, for Mu Xian stared at me, his dark eyes suddenly becoming deep and intense. He lowered his head and kissed me deeply. I was breathless from his kiss and felt a little embarrassed—Mop was still right there!

“I told you, I won’t make you worry or be afraid anymore,” he said in a low, indistinct voice between my lips.

    “Hmm…” I couldn’t stop laughing.

After a while, he finally released me. I looked up, panting, and saw Mop looking completely serious, eyes downcast. Mu Xian, a smile still lingering on his lips, said to Mop in a deep voice, “Continue the investigation. We must find the answer.” He paused, glanced at me, and said, “To put… the Princess’s mind at ease completely.”

    **

I stood in the morning light.

The curtains swayed gently in the breeze, and outside the window lay a beautiful white palace, like a graceful beauty slumbering on the shore of a shimmering lake. I gazed at this serene and beautiful scene, lost in thought.

Last night, Mu Xian and I moved into the palace. Today, we would first pay our respects to His Majesty the Emperor, then hold our wedding ceremony in the palace, and finally exchange our vows at Peace Square in the capital.

I was finally going to officially become someone’s wife.

“Miss, are you ready?” Morin asked with a smile as she approached.

I nodded, and he put the white veil on my head—this was a compromise I made with Mu Xian; I could wear it for today, but not again.

Although I was mentally prepared, I was still a little nervous when I got downstairs.

The palace and lake shimmered in the sunlight, and a snow-white, plush carpet stretched from my feet into the distance. Two squads of robotic soldiers stood proudly along the carpet. Upon seeing me emerge, they simultaneously knelt on one knee, standing perfectly aligned, motionless like statues.

Mu Xian, dressed in a white military uniform, stood on the carpet, gazing at me quietly. Sunlight shone on his face, making his features both hazy and vivid, like a delicate yet dazzling painting. The white uniform further accentuated his aloof and immaculate demeanor.

I slowly walked towards him and took his arm, and my heart was pounding. He gently held my hand, and we walked without speaking along the long carpet toward the emperor’s bedchamber.

    [Mini Theater]

Hua Yao: “Yi Pucheng’s an irrelevant person. To me, he’s no different from a piece of wood.”

Mu Xian: “…You go back to your room first.”

Hua Yao wondered: “What did I do to offend him?”

A chill ran through Mu Xian’s heart: “A section”—did she mean she thought he wasn’t short? “Wood,” did she think he was hard?

Several days later, Yi Pucheng, who had been secretly shot at for the nth time while lying in bed, finally snapped: “Damn it, all I did was confess my feelings! Are you saying thieves can’t steal from you, but they can’t even covet what’s yours? Do you have to go and ruin me like this…?”
