    Chapter 64.

We landed slowly on the lawn at home.

The villa was quiet. I saw that the two small white houses that used to be next to the residence were now completely collapsed and piled up on the ground. Robotic guards were cleaning up, and when they saw us, they silently bowed.

The main house looked fairly decent, but the once pristine white walls were now marred with gray and black marks. Mu Xian led me inside. As soon as I looked up, I saw Morin and Mop standing at their desks, one holding a communicator, the other examining satellite cloud images. They both turned and saw us simultaneously, exclaiming in unison, “Commander! Princess!”

They ran over one after the other. When Morin reached me, his eyes were wide open, his mouth was pursed tightly, and he was sobbing softly, but he couldn’t seem to say a word.

Mop stood behind him, his voice also a little excited: “You are alright; that’s great.”

My eyes welled up with tears: “Morin… Mop…”

I left Mu Xian’s embrace and reached out to hug Morin.

“Waaaaah… I thought you were going to die…”

Morin choked back tears, and I replied, also sobbing, “I thought I was going to die too…”

We hugged and cried for a while, when suddenly Morin stiffened, immediately let go of me, stood up straight, and even glanced at Mu Xian sideways, looking as if he were facing a formidable enemy.

I realized what was happening and couldn’t help but laugh. Mop laughed too, standing behind Morin. My waist tightened, and Mu Xian pulled me back. In his dark eyes, there was a faint smile, but also a hidden pain.

“Don’t tell anyone she’s back,” Mu Xian said coldly.

“Yes.” Mop’s and Morin’s voices also became solemn.

    I remained silent.

It was midday, and the sun outside the window was so intense it seemed to be baking the ground. I could even see the already withered grass growing even more scorched and dry. And from afar and near, I could hear faint cries and roars. Rescue planes kept flying overhead.

“Stay inside the house and don’t go out.” A deep voice came from behind.

I turned to look at him.

He quickly took a shower, ate something, changed into his military uniform, and put on his military cap.

“Are you going out?” I asked.

    He nodded.

I knew he was definitely going to participate in the rescue, but looking at his still somewhat pale face, I had never felt so reluctant to part with him.

    “So…when will you be back?”

He paused for a moment, then reached out and pulled me into his arms.

“Tonight.” He stared at me, then slowly lowered his head and kissed me.

The kiss was both tender and powerful.

His hands cupped my face, his slightly dry lips and tongue gently licking me, seemingly without any desire, more like a comforting gesture. A tingling sensation spread from the tip of my tongue, and he whispered, “Hua Yao…we won’t be apart.”

It was as if he were speaking to me, but also as if he were speaking to himself.

As he walked out of the room, I heard him ask Mop in a deep voice at the door, “Have we arrived?”

Mop replied, “The Third Fleet has reached near-planet orbit, and the Fifth Fleet has arrived over the capital. The Seventh Fleet remains in the desolate region.”

“Immediately participate in the rescue,” Mu Xian paused before saying, “Order the Fifth Fleet to immediately take over the defense of the capital.”

    “……yes.”

My heart skipped a beat. He turned back and gave me a thoughtful look before striding away.

The whole room became quiet, and the noise from the outside world seemed distant. Thinking about the experiences of the past few days, I couldn’t calm my emotions.

    And… a strange mental power.

As I looked at the pure white sheen swirling around my fingertips, my anxiety intensified.

Whoever sent me to Mu Xian’s side, I was filled with resentment towards them at this moment. Mu Xian was so kind; there was no doubt that they had ulterior motives. And if I were one of them, I would be in opposition to Mu Xian, which I find utterly repulsive.

No matter who they were, I would stand by Mu Xian’s side. You wanted me to give you mental power? If they tried to harm Mu Xian in the future, I would use my mental power to deal with them.

    only……

Lin Luo said that their methods were beyond the detection capabilities of Stan Star. What if they managed to control me using some method? Mu Xian said he wasn’t afraid; perhaps he was confident, or perhaps he wanted to reassure me. But this was still a terrible hidden danger.

The thought of waking up one day to find Mu Xian lying next to me, covered in blood, while my hands were covered in blood, made my heart clench.

“May I come in?” Morin’s cautious voice sounded at the doorway as he peeked in with half of his round head before quickly retreating back inside.

    I couldn’t help but laugh.

Even in the darkest times, Morin was always a ray of sunshine for me.

He sat down with the steaming hot food, but I didn’t have much of an appetite.

“Morin,” I whispered, “is there any way to install control programs on someone?”

He was stunned: “What did you say?”

I paused for a moment and said, “I’m afraid I will be controlled by someone in the future and end up hurting Mu Xian. Could you install a monitoring program for me so that it can stop me in time if I act abnormally?”

He stared at me, wide-eyed. “Do you know what you’re saying? Modification is illegal! And Stan doesn’t have that technology!”

    I remained silent.

He gently poked my arm with his hand: “Don’t worry.”

    I remained silent.

He whispered, “I’m your monitoring program. If you aren’t behaving properly, I will report to the commander, okay?”

I was still amused and patted his bald head: “Aren’t you afraid of me?”

He shook his head, even curling his lip in disdain, then, as if remembering something, exclaimed excitedly, “Mistress! After the disaster is over, take me on a time-traveling adventure!”

I chuckled: “I don’t know how at all.”

With Morin by my side, the days became less unbearable. As the stars rose into the sky, I heard a low chanting coming from outside the crumbling high walls.

    “What’s that?” I asked.

“They are citizens who have lost loved ones,” Mop explained. “They are praying for divine protection and for the disaster to end soon.”

I walked to the villa’s terrace and saw that the road outside the wall had been basically cleared. Dozens of people were kneeling on the ground with firelight in front of them, and each of them was kowtowing.

“Your Highness, please save Stan!” someone shouted.

“Radiant King, divine light!” someone shouted.

I was taken aback: “Radiant King?”

Morin said in a low voice, “That’s what people have been calling the commander since the last wedding. He’s now a figure of faith for many Stan people.”

I paused for a moment, then said, “Turn on all the lights.”

    “Ah?”

As I watched the growing number of kneeling citizens gather outside the door, I whispered, “Let them all see the faith.”

That day, Mu Xian didn’t return until almost dawn. He seemed to have exhausted a lot of energy, and he fell into a deep sleep while holding me. When I woke up after it was completely light, he was already gone.

For the next two weeks, it was the same every day. He would rush back every day to have dinner with me or hold me in his arms for a while. Although he didn’t say anything, he was clearly pale and tired, and he would fall asleep as soon as his head hit the bed. But even in those short and precious moments of sleep, he would still groggily turn over and press himself against me, wanting to do it. This made me feel both sad and amused—it seemed that no matter what happened outside, he would always be my Mu Xian, and that would never change.

Finally, after more than half a month of rescue efforts, order in the capital city was basically restored, and relief supplies from other planets and other friendly planets in the Milky Way were also delivered to Stan.

During this time, no one came looking for me again. Perhaps they thought I had died in the disaster; perhaps Mu Xian had turned against them—Mu Xian didn’t say, and I didn’t ask.

And I gradually felt my mental energy flowing more and more smoothly. Occasional attempts became remarkably practiced, natural, and stable. Morin, watching, clicked his tongue in amazement, saying, “You are almost as good as the Commander!”

I didn’t feel happy, only bewildered, and the worry in my heart didn’t lessen at all.

As the lights came on that day, Mu Xian returned home unusually early. I quickly asked, “Are you going out again today?”

He was covered in dust, his fair face was also dirty, but a faint smile appeared on his face: “No, thank you.”

The night was cold, and the stars were few. I leaned against Mu Xian’s chest, gazing at the sky outside the window. Since the stars began their dramatic change, even the night had taken on a faint red glow, looking eerie and ominous.

Mu Xian was kissing my skin patiently and meticulously from behind.

“It’s getting colder and colder.” I wrapped myself tighter in the blanket.

“Hmm.” He burrowed deeper into the covers, his voice muffled. “It will improve in a month.”

    “A month?”

His lips paused, and a deep voice came: “The Planet Rebirth Plan has been finalized and will be implemented in one month.”

    I was taken aback.

These past few days, news reports had confirmed that the star had entered a red giant transition cycle, and the disaster of that day, as Mu Xian said, was just the beginning. However, the news had also repeatedly emphasized that the red giant transition cycle was very long, long enough to relocate all the people to other planets, so that the public need not panic.

It was early autumn, but the weather was already quite cold. The official explanation was that the red giant change causes the sun’s temperature to decrease slowly, which was a normal phenomenon.

So what was the purpose of the “Planet Rebirth Project” that Mu Xian mentioned?

Mu Xian explained calmly, “The situation isn’t as good as the news reports. The Red Giant Change will cause the ground temperature to continue to drop, and in two months, people will freeze to death if they stay outdoors. Stan Star will also stop rotating within a few months.”

“Oh no!” I exclaimed in surprise. “What do we do now?”

His brow furrowed slightly as he pulled me closer and said, “This disaster happened too suddenly. A lot of resources, energy, and equipment were destroyed, and most of the empire was paralyzed. If it were interstellar transport, it would be impossible to send billions of people out in such a short time. Even if it were possible, it would be impossible to find a suitable planet in a short period of time. The people would have to be scattered to other countries and some asteroids, and the Stan Empire would cease to exist.”

I nodded. This kind of evacuation and national annihilation was something no Stan person wants, right?

“I’ve heard Mop mention that the Academy of Sciences has always had contingency plans for dealing with red giants; is this the newborn program you’re talking about?” I asked.

Looking at the starry sky, Mu Xian quietly replied, “Yes, the Academy of Sciences spent a huge sum of money a long time ago to create a device that can apply external force to the planet’s core. This device is very large and sturdy, and it wasn’t damaged in the disaster.”

Their theory was to apply a force to Stan’s star by acting on its core, causing it to shift into an orbit closer to the star. While this would make the atmosphere more unstable, it would at least buy us a decade or more.

I was stunned—using external forces to rotate the planet’s core, causing planets to change their orbits? Thus, getting closer to their stars and gaining heat? That was just too far-fetched.

“Are you confident?” I asked nervously.

He nodded: “We’ve conducted numerous precise simulations and calculations, and we are about 70% confident. Even if the drive fails, the situation won’t be worse than it is now.”

I breathed a sigh of relief; that’s good.

At this moment, Mu Xian looked down at me and said, “I will also join this project.”

    “…Mental strength?”

He nodded: “On the planet’s surface, only ‘Yu’ is directly connected to the planet’s core. And of all energy, only spiritual power can directly affect ‘Yu.'”

I quickly realized, “So, mental energy is the medium through which that device powers the planet’s core?”

“Yes. All the psychics in the Empire have been summoned and will gather in the capital on that day to use their psychic powers to transmit the enormous thrust generated by that device to the planet’s core, thereby restarting Stan Star.”

Using technology and spiritual power, let’s turn Stan Star around again!

The plan sounded incredibly far-fetched, yet it was also incredibly exciting. I held his arm, lost in thought as I imagined his spiritual power traversing the planet Stan.

“My fleet will be anchored over the capital that day, and you can go aboard the spaceship to watch the whole thing,” he said softly.

I looked up at him, and there seemed to be a faint arrogance in his clear black eyes.

He wanted… me to go see him? To see him save the whole planet?

I paused for a moment, then smiled and nodded. Remembering something else, I asked hesitantly, “Wait, you’re going to apply your power to ‘Yu’…isn’t that the jade mountain in the palace?”

That ugly sculpture with a big hand holding a small hand?

A faint smile appeared on his fair face: “My spot’s right there.”

I laughed and buried my face in his chest.

“If this plan succeeds, we will leave Stan.” A deep voice came from above.

“…Okay.” My eyes welled up with tears. “So, should we go to Earth or Softan?”

“Wherever.” He gently placed me on the bed, his dark eyes gazing at me intently. “Hua Yao, it’s been a long time since we did it.”

I chuckled and said, “You’ve been working so hard for so many days; take a rest for one night, and do it again tomorrow.”

“No.” He stared at me, his voice low and slightly hoarse. “That would mean one less day.”

    ***

    One month later.

The weather was getting worse. The bright red sun hung overhead, but when you opened the window, the air outside was so cold it made you shiver.

I slowly turned around and saw that Mu Xian was already dressed in his military uniform. I helped him put on his military cap and gloves, and he kept staring at me quietly with his eyes down.

“We will leave tomorrow,” he said in a deep, powerful voice.

I couldn’t help but laugh, reached out and hugged his neck, and whispered in his ear in Chinese, “Mmm… wherever my husband goes, I will follow.”

Shortly after he left, I boarded the spaceship under the heavy protection of the robot guards. Looking up, the sky was densely packed with Mu Xian’s fleet of fighter jets, and my spaceship slowly flew up to the sky directly above the palace.

From above, the capital still appears dilapidated. Yet, amidst the vast ruins, the light green, makeshift houses, connected together like new grass sprouting from parched ground, evoke a slight tenderness in the heart.

The vast palace was in much better condition than the outside. None of the beautiful white buildings had collapsed; they still retained their former sacred and elegant splendor. Countless people gathered outside the palace, forming a dense black dot that stretched far into the city.

Even without high-powered binoculars, I could see the general outline of our “love-declared sculpture.” Beside Jade Mountain stood a towering black machine, at least the size of a football field. This was supposedly the device developed by the Academy of Sciences to power the planet’s core, called “Eternal Stan.” There were seven of them, located at the North and South Poles, the equator, and here. I didn’t know how “Eternal Stan” worked; I was only concerned with Mu Xian.

After waiting for a while, they saw the vast crowd kneel down on one knee simultaneously. At the same time, the emperor’s image appeared on the floating screen on the spaceship. He began to address the nation, the gist of which was to overcome the disaster and restore Stan’s glory.

Seeing him felt like a stone was lodged in my heart. His once frail yet wise face now seemed increasingly unfamiliar and somber. I simply turned my head away, not wanting to hear his voice at all.

Finally, through the binoculars, I saw the crowd around the jade stone part on both sides, and Mu Xian walked out, his expression aloof and his gaze calm.

Even from this distance, looking at him, my breath caught in my throat.

Amidst the silent gazing of the crowd and the kneeling worship of hundreds of thousands outside the palace, he slowly ascended Jade Mountain. Seeing him stand at the center, his palms overlapping, I couldn’t help but smile again.

“Your Highness, your husband’s about to save the planet!” Morin stood beside me and shouted in Chinese. My cheeks flushed—he’d been teasing me about it ever since he heard Mu Xian and me calling each other “husband and wife” that morning.

At that moment, the announcer’s deep voice came through the onboard television: “All 3,400 psychic warriors across the country are in position. They stand atop the world’s major energy veins and, under His Highness Nuo’er’s leadership, will use their psychic powers to form an energy network, carrying the power of ‘Eternal Stan’ and reactivating the planet’s core!”

Morin and I looked at the same time and saw images appearing on the TV, all of them psychics dressed in white standing on white stone mountains, each with a solemn and excited expression.

Just then, a deep, deafening roar came from the ground.

Looking down, I saw that the massive, mountain-like body of ‘Eternal Stan’ was trembling slightly. There was no doubt that it had begun to operate. I quickly looked at Mu Xian, who frowned slightly, took off his military cap, and placed it on the ground. His face was as white as jade in the sunlight, radiating a faint glow.

    However, he raised his hands.

A dazzling blue light suddenly flashed in his palm. With a wave of his arm, the clear blue beam of light suddenly rose high and soared into the sky!

“So cool!” Morin shouted in my ear.

As I gazed at that magnificent, gentle, blue pillar of light that seemed to support the heavens and the ground, my heart suddenly skipped a beat.

Then a sharp, needle-like pain shot through my head, numbing my entire body, and everything went black before my eyes. I suddenly collapsed to the ground.

The pain vanished in an instant, and suddenly everything went white before my eyes; I couldn’t see anything. The surroundings became quiet; I could only hear the whistling wind, coming from somewhere…

When I came to my senses, I saw Morin’s anxious face. He was kneeling on the ground, holding me tightly, and patting my face forcefully: “Your Highness, what’s wrong? What’s wrong?”

I stared at him blankly, then suddenly pushed him away and stood up, looking at Mu Xian on the ground. His entire body was shrouded in blue light, looking hazy and holy.

    I burst into tears instantly.

Because the moment he emitted the beam of light, it was as if my mind was suddenly triggered by that light, opening up a new space within me.

All the memories of being a member of the Time Clan had flooded in like a tidal wave.
