Chapter 98. [Bonus Chapter] Business Trip

As required by the Imperial Military Ministry, Mu Xian was required to inspect the three fleets he led every month. His planned inspection was scheduled immediately after his return from the Softan asteroid.

At first, no one thought there was anything wrong—Mop arranged his itinerary, Morin packed simple luggage, and Hua Yao… was quite happy to have two days of personal time. You see, when Mu Xian was around, they were always inseparable unless he was working. Although it was sweet, after a while, Hua Yao always had the urge to ditch him and do something else. And so, all was calm until the day he was to depart. Early in the morning, Mop was already waiting downstairs. Mu Xian put on his military uniform, cap, and gloves and looked back in the morning light to see his woman sleeping soundly on the snow-white bed.

He walked over with a smile and placed a light kiss on her forehead. Perhaps she was dreaming; as she opened her arms and hugged his neck, a faint smile played on her lips.

Thinking that he wouldn’t see her face for two days, a full 64 hours, Mu Xian remained silent for half a minute before striding out of the bedroom.

“Morin, take her to the main ship’s command center.” He spoke concisely, without glancing to the side.

Neither Mop nor Morin said anything—did they bring their families on a business trip?

Although imperial law didn’t prohibit this, it was generally only hedonistic, womanizing officers who brought their girlfriends or lovers on official business. How could such a thing happen to a commander who was always so cold and resolute?

But still… let’s execute the order.

Hua Yao was still a little dazed even after being put on the main ship. She grabbed Morin by the collar: “Why did you bring me along? Isn’t his schedule packed?”

Morin shrugged. “Miss, this is the commander’s order. Hehe, I think he’s head over heels in love with you!”

Hua Yao: “…What about our pre-booked shopping and travel plans?”

“Ah! I forgot! Then we will have to cancel it.”

As expected, Mu Xian was very busy. Hua Yao stayed on the ship alone for 20 hours before Mu Xian finally returned, pushing open the hatch under the starlight.

“Shall I have Morin take you to explore the nearby nebula tomorrow?”

“Okay, sure.”

Later, this kind of interaction became a habit. When he had to leave home for military duties, he always took her with him. But what others didn’t know was that he simply kept her by his side, keeping her very close to him. And he would still focus on his work, sometimes going for days on end without her seeing him.

When he got tired from work and occasionally stopped to rest, the thought of her in his rest cabin on the ship brought a smile to his face.

When she nestled in her rest pod, playing poker and games with Mop and Morin and the other robots, she didn’t complain about being bored; in fact, she always felt a sweet warmth in her heart.

Because he was on that ship, not far from her.
