Forbidden Land – CH 088

Around 9 PM, Zhang Chao and Chen Rong arrived near the School of Medicine, parked their bicycles, and walked onto the street outside, hoping to find the security guards patrolling the campus.

The two stood on the north-south road, looking around for five or six minutes. They saw several roller skating teams speeding past, but no security guards’ vehicles appeared.

Just then, Zhang Chao pointed and said, “Look, it’s that bitch again.”

Chen Rong looked in the direction he was pointing. About a hundred meters away on the east-west road outside the School of Medicine, a woman in black was walking briskly towards them, heading towards the School of Medicine.

Zhang Chao quickly pulled Chen Rong behind a tree. They were on the north-south road, while the woman in black was on the east-west road, a considerable distance away, so she hadn’t noticed them. Zhang Chao said, “Looks like she really did go into the Teaching Building.”

Chen Rong gripped Zhang Chao’s arm slightly. “This…it’s so late. What…what could she be doing?”

Zhang Chao hesitated for a moment, then said, “Do you think we should go check it out?”

Chen Rong pondered for a moment, then frowned slightly. “Okay, I didn’t want to go to the School of Medicine at night, but after hearing what you said today, this woman does seem very strange. I’m also curious to know who she is. Hmm, let’s follow her and see what she’s doing.”

Zhang Chao clenched his fist and said fiercely, “If she dares to play tricks again this time, I won’t treat her like a girl anymore; I’ll just punch her!”

“Screw you!” Zhang Chao suddenly felt a surge of domineering confidence. He clenched his thin fist and called out, “Let’s go; let’s go check it out.”

Chen Rong smiled at his expression and followed him towards the Teaching Building.

“I forgot my flashlight tonight; what a pity.”

This was Zhang Chao’s first thought as he reached the north staircase of the Teaching Building.

Looking at the pitch-black staircase and imagining the woman in black possibly lurking somewhere watching them, a chill ran down his spine.

Chen Rong glanced at him and said softly, “Come on, what are you doing?”

“Um…” Zhang Chao hesitated. “I’m thinking about where this woman might be hiding.”

Chen Rong said dismissively, “If you’re not coming, then let’s go back.”

Zhang Chao snorted and said, “You come with me; I’ll protect you. Don’t be afraid.”

The two quietly made their way up the stairs. The stairs were dark, and they walked slowly. Zhang Chao had witnessed the woman’s tricks before; she always hid in the darkest places, so he carefully observed every turn.

Upon reaching the second floor, they stepped out onto the corridor and looked around. No one was there.

Just then, “knock knock…” “knock knock,” the long-absent knocking sound rang out intermittently every few seconds.

Zhang Chao’s and Chen Rong’s expressions changed, and they exchanged a glance.

The air seemed to freeze instantly.

Zhang Chao pondered for a moment, then said, “So the woman in ancient costume really was that bitch in disguise, humph!”

Chen Rong nodded. “I just don’t know what she’s doing here.”

This woman in black deliberately changed into tattered clothes and kept knocking on the door in the middle of the night—what was she trying to do!

There must be some kind of unspeakable secret.

Zhang Chao gritted his teeth and said, “Let’s hurry upstairs.”

Chen Rong nodded, and the two of them ran all the way to the fifth floor. Just as they were about to continue running up, Chen Rong grabbed Zhang Chao and said, “Shouldn’t we go up the south staircase and circle her over? Otherwise, if we go up here and then walk through the corridor, she’ll definitely get away.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the two immediately went out of the staircase, to the fifth-floor corridor, and ran south.

But they had only run halfway when the knocking suddenly stopped. The two stopped and looked at each other.

Zhang Chao asked doubtfully, “We are speaking so softly; there’s no way she could have heard us, right?”

Chen Rong replied, “There’s no way she could have heard us.”

Zhang Chao laughed. “She’s probably tired of playing tricks. Let’s grab her! If she resists, hehe, she’s a woman anyway; I can just punch her.”

Chen Rong said, “Don’t hit her too hard.” Clearly, Chen Rong didn’t object to Zhang Chao using “force” against this strange woman in black.

The two continued south along the corridor. Just as they were about to reach the end of the stairs, suddenly, a white figure ran down the stairs from above, turned a corner, and disappeared from sight.

Zhang Chao and Chen Rong were stunned when they saw the person suddenly run down. It took them several seconds to react, but the figure was already out of their sight, gone below.
