    Chapter Ninety-Seven: Half-Baked Product (1)

The Grand Madam pondered for a moment, “Sixth Brother, take them away, but do not leave Mei Mansion.”

The main force of the Mei family was near Mei Mansion. If they ran out, they might be attacked, which would be disastrous. The safest way was to find a relatively safe place nearby to hide.

Although the Grand Madam believed that these people would find it difficult to wipe out the Mei family in one fell swoop, she dared not be careless. She had to ensure the safety of the Mei family descendants no matter what.

The Grand Madam’s face was hidden in the darkness. “They are all Mei family assassins, responsible for protecting you.”

The guards lowered their bodies even further, indicating they accepted the order.

“Good.” At this crucial moment, Mei Zhengjing was quite reliable.

The Grand Madam’s hand, hidden in a black glove, suddenly emerged from her cloak, grabbed Mo Sigui, and lifted him, carrying him away.

“Ah, ah!” Mo Sigui exclaimed. “My hair’s all messed up!”

The Grand Madam chuckled softly, “Do not worry about your hair. It is hard to say whether this person will even save their head later!”

Mo Sigui was suspected of being a spy, so the Grand Madam naturally could not leave him with the rest of the Mei family.

An Jiu paused, then did not follow.

“Come with me!” Mei Zhengjing often wandered around the plum blossom forest, knowing the terrain intimately. Without much thought, he already knew where the safest place was.

Below the cliff of the clan school’s dining hall were many caves, some inside the mountain, others extending underground. The paths inside were complex, like a maze, with several exits.

Most of the forces involved in this ambush were held back by the Mei family elders and the Shadow Clan, so Mei Zhengjing’s group encountered almost no resistance in the forest.

As An Jiu ran out of the forest, she felt as if she were floating on clouds. Her powerful mental strength allowed her to control her legs, but she knew her body had reached its limit, and she could not accelerate any further, or her ligaments would snap!

“Fourteenth, is someone chasing us?” Mei Tingzhu sensed movement but could not confirm it.

“Yes! Four, less than a hundred feet to the right rear.” These people had only just entered An Jiu’s mental range.

Mei Zhengjing ordered the Shadows, “Stop them!”

“Yes!” Four of them had doubts, but since Mei Zhengjing had given the order, they had to obey unconditionally.

Most of the Shadows in the Mei clan were around the fifth rank; it was uncertain how long they could hold out.

Running along the river, as they approached the cliff, An Jiu gradually felt her legs were filled with lead.

“They are going to break…” Mei Jiu had a terrifying feeling that her whole body was about to snap, and she began to sob.

This time, An Jiu did not ignore Mei Jiu’s words. She slowed her pace and asked, “Are you feeling any better?”

After a moment, Mei Jiu choked out, “Mmm.”

An Jiu scoffed, “You’ve seen your share of life and death, yet you are still such a coward. It just goes to show that a pig is a pig; even wearing human skin cannot bridge the gap between you and a human!”

Mei Jiu, used to being ridiculed, was currently enduring physical exhaustion and pain, so she did not reply.

An Jiu’s ears twitched slightly. Hearing footsteps behind her, she turned her head to look.

It was the Shadow Clan members who had gone to fight a quarter of an hour ago. Four went, but only one returned.

An Jiu’s heart sank. Although the Mei Clan’s Shadow Clan members were only at the fifth level, they were rich in combat experience. Even someone like her, without internal energy, could kill one or two “Half-Baked” members. They had lost three in such a short time!
