    Chapter 126: The Wedding

After a while, Cui Zi Xuan pulled out and hugged Jiang Mi from behind, pressing his sweaty face against hers as he breathed heavily.

A little while later, Cui Zi Xuan reached out and untied the ropes binding Jiang Mi, then carefully placed her on the bed in his arms. He took a garment and wiped Jiang Mi clean himself, then jumped onto the bed and embraced her tightly, blanket and all.

Jiang Mi buried her head in the blankets and ignored him.

Cui Zi Xuan held her tighter, panting slightly, and said, “Ah’Mi, I’m sorry; I lost control just now.”

Hearing his apology, Jiang Mi let out a soft hum from her nose and poked her head out from under the covers. As soon as she peeked out, Jiang Mi met Cui Zi Xuan’s still bloodshot eyes.

She reached out and touched his eyelids, asking, “Can you control yourself now?”

Cui Zi Xuan smiled, burying his face in Jiang Mi’s chest, and said in a hoarse voice, “I want Ah’Mi again; is that alright?”

Jiang Mi blushed, looking with heartache at the man who was noticeably thinner than a month ago, and replied in a very soft voice, “Yes.”

Almost as soon as she finished speaking, Jiang Mi was turned over, lying face down on the bed. Then everything went black again, as Cui Zi Xuan blindfolded her.

Cui Zi Xuan lifted her hips.

Feeling that familiar swelling heat, Jiang Mi said angrily, “Why are you blindfolding me again?”

Cui Zi Xuan lifted her lowered buttocks again, thrusting and saying in a hoarse voice, “Your Ah’Lang is contorted right now!”

No, you clearly had this kind of fetish!

Jiang Mi cursed inwardly, finally unable to resist moaning aloud…

After another round of lovemaking, Cui Zi Xuan let out a satisfied sigh and withdrew from Jiang Mi. He lay back on the bed, not wanting to move.

He did not want to move, and Jiang Mi was half conscious and unable to move. The only sound in the room was the heavy breathing mixed with the strong scent of desire.

After a while, Cui Zi Xuan pulled Jiang Mi into his arms. He lowered his head and kissed Jiang Mi’s sweaty, pale face. He then got off the bed and retrieved a set of undergarments for her.

Sitting back on the bed, Cui Zi Xuan pulled the naked Jiang Mi close, gently wiping her clean. When he reached the corner of her lips, he leaned down and gave her a small bite.

Jiang Mi let out a soft moan of pain.

Cui Zi Xuan smiled, then wiped himself clean. He adjusted his position, holding Jiang Mi, blanket and all, and closed his eyes to rest.

After a while, Jiang Mi slowly began to recover, gazing at Cui Zi Xuan with hazy eyes. Looking at his stubble-covered chin, Jiang Mi said in a hoarse voice, “Ah, where have you been lately? You’ve lost so much weight!”

Cui Zi Xuan stroked her bare back listlessly. He replied languidly, “Something came up in Suzhou.”

“Oh.” Jiang Mi, raised with the manners of a traditional woman, did not press further when he did not elaborate. She just looked at his red eyes and could not help but feel a pang of heartache. “Did something happen again? Your eyes are red again.”

Cui Zi Xuan paused, then closed his eyes without answering.

After a while… Cui Zi Xuan whispered, “Ah’Mi, are you recovered?”

Jiang Mi blushed and replied, “Yes.”

Cui Zi Xuan said, “I want to see you dance the Palm Dance.”

Jiang Mi frowned and said irritably, “It’s so late!”

Cui Zi Xuan opened his eyes. “Ah’Mi, you have not heard me sing before, have you? I will play the zither and sing for you, and you will dance for me. How about it?”

Jiang Mi glared at him, lowering her voice, “Do you want to disturb everyone?” This pre-wedding rendezvous was inappropriate to begin with, let alone in the dead of night. Should he not be acting suspiciously?

Cui Zi Xuan chuckled, lowering his head to rest his face on Jiang Mi’s neck, and said in a muffled voice, “It’s alright; they will not be disturbed.”

Jiang Mi was about to say, “How could that be?” when she suddenly realized that if this man could win over Mother Li, he could certainly win over others. When he said “would not be disturbed,” he probably really meant no one would be disturbed!

Thinking this, Jiang Mi felt a little dissatisfied. But she was used to being docile, and besides, her upbringing had not made her feel that being controlled by a man was anything serious. So Jiang Mi just pouted and hummed.

At this moment, Cui Zi Xuan no longer mentioned dancing and singing. He casually massaged Jiang Mi’s lower back and asked softly, “Ah’Mi, when did you go on your period last month?”

Jiang Mi replied, “Only seven or eight days ago.”

Cui Zi Xuan hummed in agreement, his hand reaching to her soft, white abdomen. After gently pressing it, he said with some regret, “It seems there’s no child yet.”

    Jiang Mi blushed.

Then, Cui Zi Xuan nestled his face against Jiang Mi’s neck again, nuzzling her gently, and said contentedly, “I always feel peaceful when I’m with Ah’Mi.”

In the servants’ quarters not far away, Mother Gong could not sleep. She pushed open the gauze window, letting the bright moonlight stream in. Seeing the light in Jiang Mi’s room in the distance, Mother Gong chuckled.

Just then, footsteps sounded, and Mother Li’s voice came from behind, “Cannot sleep either?”

Mother Gong replied, “Tomorrow’s the Princess’s wedding ceremony; how could I possibly be sleepy? Why can you not sleep either?”

Mother Li smiled, looking at the light in Jiang Mi’s room, and said, “I’m the same as you. Thinking about the Princess getting married tomorrow, and to such a good husband, makes me so happy I cannot sleep.”

Mother Gong hummed in agreement, looking at the flickering candlelight in the darkness. After a while, she suddenly said, “I’d better go see the Princess.” With that, she threw on her coat and left.

Mother Li knew her temperament; Jiang Mi marrying Cui Zi Xuan was a huge step up for her, a true leap for success. Mother Gong was filled with anxiety and longing, wishing she could hear Cui Zi Xuan say a hundred, a thousand times how much he valued Jiang Mi before she would feel at ease.

Soon, Mother Gong arrived outside Jiang Mi’s boudoir.

A bright moon hung in the sky, and the candlelight inside flickered dimly. Mother Gong stood for a moment before seeing the tall figure and the petite figure appear behind the gauze window.

Seeing the two figures occasionally intertwined, the scene indescribably sweet, Mother Gong smiled broadly, but as she smiled, her eyes welled up with tears.

Because of some unease, Mother Gong took a few more steps towards the boudoir.

When she stood still again, she could faintly hear the conversation inside the boudoir. “I did not expect Ah’Mi’s maids to still be preparing hot water so late. Hmm, they’ve served you well; they deserve a generous reward!”

It was Cui Zi Xuan’s voice.

Almost as soon as his smiling voice fell, Mother Gong heard her princess give a haughty snort. It was as if to say, “Keep pretending!”

Inside the boudoir, Cui Zi Xuan seemed to had caught Jiang Mi sneering. He suddenly pounced on her. Jiang Mi could not dodge in time, and the two rolled around laughing.

Hearing the two children playing so freely, Mother Gong smiled as well.

Just then, a soft cry came from inside the boudoir. Two sharp slaps rang out, followed by Cui Zi Xuan’s command. “I’m washing you; why are you moving?”

Inside the room, Jiang Mi’s reply was tinged with embarrassment and anger, “I… I can do it myself!”

“Stop it!” Two more light slaps followed by the sound of water. Cui Zi Xuan chuckled softly, “We’ve already gone this far; what are you still ashamed of? My dear Mi’er, it’s rare for me to serve you like this. Be good!”

    Mother Gong silently retreated.

A short while later, she encountered Mother Li and Mother Gui, both also wearing outer garments, in the garden.

Upon seeing Mother Gong, she was overjoyed. Mother Gui asked curiously, “What’s going on? Why are you so happy after eavesdropping for a while?”

Mother Gong simply smiled, thinking to herself, “Master’s background and character are no less than that of an Emperor. From the moment he was old enough to understand human affairs, daughters in this world must have been eager to serve him. Such a noble person, and he personally washed the Princess’s body—what more could one ask for than genuine love and respect?”

Mother Gong was satisfied. She glanced smugly at Mother Li and Mother Gui’s eager expressions, then turned and left, refusing to answer their questions!

The next day arrived in the blink of an eye.

Jiang Mi and Cui Zi Xuan had been entwined for half the night before she finally fell asleep. Because she had something on her mind, she opened her eyes at the crack of dawn.

Upon waking, Jiang Mi realized that Cui Zi Xuan was gone, and her undergarments were intact; clearly, he had changed her before leaving.

Hugging the blanket, Jiang Mi recalled the sweet words Cui Zi Xuan had said to her the night before and smiled foolishly for a long time.

As Jiang Mi stepped down from the couch, footsteps sounded outside, followed by the cheerful voices of Mother Gong, Mother Li, and Mother Gui. “Princess, today’s your joyous day; it’s time to get up.”

Jiang Mi quickly replied, “I’m already awake.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the door creaked open, and the Three Mothers and the maids swarmed in…

Not to mention in Jiang Mansion, in Mingzhou City, everyone had finally waited for this day, and the excitement began before dawn.

This excitement lasted until the afternoon. Near dusk, Cui Zi Xuan, riding a white horse and dressed in his groom’s attire, led a grand procession towards Jiang Mansion amidst the clamor of gongs and drums.

At this moment, all of Cui Zi Xuan’s relatives and friends stood on both sides of the street, smiling and waving at him.

Cui Zi Xuan, beaming, nodded to the crowd. His bright red wedding robes made his overly noble face seem almost otherworldly, adding a touch of earthiness.

The street was packed with people; everyone in Mingzhou City was watching the spectacle. And in a loft, Li Wu was observing this scene with a complex expression.

Chen Xin’er, rarely seen out in public, was beaming. She looked enviously at Cui Zi Xuan’s long wedding procession, then ran behind Li Wu and exclaimed happily, “Little Sister’s so lucky! She’s found such a wonderful husband!”

    Li Wu ignored her.

Chen Xin’er glanced at him cautiously, then smiled and said, “I’m afraid every daughter in the world envies Little Sister. Ah, what a blessing it is for a woman to marry the man she loves!”

This time, after Chen Xin’er finished speaking, Li Wu replied, his voice cold and mocking, “What? You want me to marry you too? Are you worthy?”

    Chen Xin’er turned pale.

Li Wu turned around and saw Chen Xin’er, her face pale and tears streaming down her face. He said coldly, “Heartbroken? If you’re heartbroken, you can get out!”

“No, no, I’m not heartbroken; Li Lang, I’m not heartbroken!” Chen Xin’er quickly knelt down and hugged Li Wu was leg, pleading in a trembling voice, “I’m content as long as I can stay by Li Lang’s side, even without a title, it does not matter. Li Lang, you must believe me, I’m not heartbroken, I really’m not heartbroken!”

Li Wu scoffed, kicking Chen Xin’er into a corner.

Li Wu strode aside, picked up a wine jug from the table, and returned to the gauze window. Watching Cui Zi Xuan recede into the distance, Li Wu tilted his head back and downed the wine. At that moment, he saw the loft across the street. In the loft, a handsome young man was also drinking. After their eyes met, he raised his wine cup and waved it at Li Wu.

Li Wu frowned, staring at the man.

After a moment, he called out, “Someone come here.”

    Two scholars entered.

Li Wu frowned as he sized up the young man across the street. “That man looks familiar,” he said. “Have you seen him before?”

One scholar studied the young man for a moment, then exclaimed, “That’s Wang Yi! I’ve heard he’s a descendant of the former Shu royal family. It’s not surprising that the Royal Prince has seen him; Wang Yi’s the most famous merchant in the land.” Another scholar said, “In this world of numerous states and constant warfare, for Wang Yi to have built such a large business shows he’s not someone to be underestimated!”

    Li Wu nodded.

At this moment, another scholar said, “I wonder why Cui Zi Xuan’s wedding is so grand? I noticed some people of unknown power among the onlookers on the street.”

Li Wu chuckled, “In other people’s eyes, I’m also someone of unknown power!” Several scholars laughed.

As dusk fell, Cui Zi Xuan had already brought out Jiang Mi’s bridal sedan chair. Watching the swaying sedan chair and seeing Cui Zi Xuan beside it with his gentle smile and elegant demeanor, Li Wu began to drink heavily.

As he chugged his wine, he stared at the newlyweds, occasionally letting out a cold laugh. His advisors and guards, knowing his displeasure, dared not utter a word.

The rest of the journey felt like a dream to Jiang Mi.

When she stepped down from the sedan chair, her steps were unsteady, her palms drenched in sweat. More importantly, her mind was buzzing, as if something was constantly calling in her ears, and everything seemed like a dream, unreal.

In a daze, she and Cui Zi Xuan bowed to heaven and earth; in a daze, she was helped into the bridal chamber; in a daze, she waited for a long time before seeing her husband enter the bedchamber…

Cui Zi Xuan gently lifted Jiang Mi’s veil, picked up the nuptial cup from the side, and smiled at her, “Ah’Mi, it’s time to drink.”

Jiang Mi looked up at Cui Zi Xuan with a silly smile for a while, then reached out and took the cup.

The cup was small, and Jiang Mi drank it all in one gulp, then ate two pieces of pastry to fill her stomach. She giggled at the constantly shaking Cui Zi Xuan. “Young Master Cui, do not shake it!” As she spoke, she reached out and grabbed Cui Zi Xuan’s arm.

Jiang Mi had just thrown herself into Cui Zi Xuan’s arms when she fell motionless.

Cui Zi Xuan carried her to the bedside, removed her outer garment, laid her on the bed, and covered her with a blanket. Then, he quickly removed his own groom’s robes.

A moment later, Cui Zi Xuan went to the backyard. Looking at the courtyard full of young men, illuminated by the distant lamplight, his backlit gaze was unfathomable. “Gentlemen,” he said, “it’s finally our turn to fight back!”
