    Chapter 207: Please Come Home

Looking at Lady Yang’s Mansion in the soft morning light, Cui Zi Xuan ordered the carriage to stop.

As a renowned merchant in Youzhou, Lady Yang’s Mansion was quite magnificent, in no way inferior to Cui’s own in terms of size and grandeur.

Cui Zi Xuan slowly walked to the main gate of Lady Yang’s Mansion. He glanced up at the words “Lady Yang” bathed in the faint, dark golden light of the morning sun, then stood motionless with his hands behind his back and a cold expression.

    A Wu came running over.

Holding a thick stack of files, his eyes bloodshot, he approached Cui Zi Xuan from behind. A Wu whispered, “Young Master, last night we arrested two maids who served Lady Yang, one old woman, and one guard. Their confessions are here.”

Seeing Cui Zi Xuan only staring silently at the Lady Yang’s Mansion door, A Wu knew he was not really interested in reading them, so he continued softly, “Judging from the confessions, although Lady Yang has done quite a few things in the past year or two, her private life is not unclean.”

At this point, A Wu gave a bitter smile and whispered again, “The Lady Yang of Youzhou is, after all, the Lady Yang of Youzhou. We launched a surprise attack last night, but they still managed to rescue everyone an hour ago. Before leaving, they set fire to a house and fired a volley of arrows, killing several of our brothers.” This strength was now comparable to the Cui Clan of Boling.

Cui Zi Xuan seemed to finally grasp the situation. He slowly turned around, glanced at A Wu, and said in a hoarse voice, “Alright, let’s go.” He then turned and got into the carriage, returning to Cui Mansion in no time.

Cui Ziying, who had not slept all night, saw her elder brother’s carriage in the distance and rushed over, calling out to Cui Zi Xuan, “Brother…”

Cui Zi Xuan glanced back at his little sister.

In the soft morning light, seeing her elder brother, who had not slept all night, with surprisingly bright eyes, and that look—a look tinged with joy, anger, and embarrassment—was so familiar, so familiar that Cui Ziying felt Elder Brother was far more vibrant than before.

Unconsciously, Cui Ziying relaxed. She glanced cautiously at Cui Zi Xuan, bit her lip, and whispered, “Brother, Sister-in-law is so powerful now. I’m afraid Elder Brother will not be able to use the old methods anymore.”

Just when Cui Ziying thought Cui Zi Xuan would not answer, he spoke up, “Yes.”

“Brother, you think so too?” Receiving Elder Brother’s agreement, Cui Ziying’s eyes lit up. She chattered on, “I think even if Sister-in-law becomes the most powerful, she’s still the same sister-in-law she used to be. Brother, I remember she had many weaknesses before. Which weakness do you think we can exploit?”

Cui Zi Xuan glanced at Cui Ziying again, naturally remaining silent.

Cui Ziying, used to his silence, continued excitedly, “Brother, I thought about it all night. Is there not another real Lady Yang from Youzhou? We can say that she’s her little sister or something, and we will arrange a good identity for her so she can marry Elder Brother again…”

Cui Ziying was so excited that she became incoherent, rattling off the various ingenious plans she had come up with all night. Cui Zi Xuan walked beside her, listening with unusual patience.

The brother and sister chatted until they reached Cui Zi Xuan’s room, and as soon as Cui Ziying left, Cui Zi Xuan ordered hot water to be prepared.

In the early morning mist, Cui Zi Xuan dismissed the servants and began to wash himself in the courtyard.

While bathing, he glanced at the Yang Mansion next door. As he looked, a cold smile crept across Cui Zi Xuan’s lips, then vanished in an instant, his expression hardening, and his lips unconsciously curved upwards.

Cui Zi Xuan thought of Jiang Mi as Lady Yang for a moment, then of Jiang Mi in her true form. Two equally beautiful faces flickered before him. Gradually, he recalled Lady Yang’s flirtatious behavior in his presence. Slowly, Cui Zi Xuan’s face flushed, and his breathing became heavy: Did she not enjoy dressing up as Lady Yang? Then let her dress up as Lady Yang and feast to her heart’s content. Yes, feed her, feed her to her heart’s content!

His breathing grew heavier, and he became increasingly excited. After a long while, Cui Zi Xuan threw his head back and let out a satisfied groan.

As the sun climbed above the treetops, a refreshed Cui Zi Xuan stepped out of the courtyard.

He had just finished a light breakfast when a servant came to report that Old Madam Cui wished to see him. Immediately, Cui Zi Xuan set off towards Old Madam Cui’s courtyard.

As soon as he reached the courtyard gate, Cui Zi Xuan heard laughter coming from inside. Old Madam Cui’s elegant chuckle mingled with the little princess’s joyful laughter, causing Cui Zi Xuan to stop in his tracks and slightly furrow his brow.

In the blink of an eye, Cui Zi Xuan returned to normal. Smiling, he entered with an air of elegance, meeting the smiling Old Madam Cui and the little princess, whose face was flushed and eyes bright as she looked at him. Cui Zi Xuan bowed to Old Madam Cui, then turned to the little princess and smiled, saying, “So early, Your Highness. What brings you to my humble abode?”

“Zi Xuan!” It was Old Madam Cui who interrupted him, gently scolding, “What are you saying? Her Highness knows I’m unwell, so is it not right for her to come and visit?”

Seeing the little princess biting her lip and looking at him expectantly, Cui Zi Xuan chuckled softly and replied easily, “Of course, why not?”

With that, Cui Zi Xuan sat down gracefully.

The little princess was still staring intently at Cui Zi Xuan, her expression slightly puzzled. She felt that Elder Brother Cui seemed to be smiling particularly handsomely today. For some reason, the little princess blushed, bit her lip, and asked curiously, “Elder Brother Zi Xuan, I heard you and Ziying went to West Peak Mountain yesterday, and you even invited Lady Yang?”

Normally, Cui Zi Xuan would have been too lazy to answer such a question, but today he was in a good mood, so he smiled and replied, “Yes.”

The little princess bit her lip tightly and asked curiously, “Why did Elder Brother Zi Xuan invite Lady Yang? Is it because you have business to discuss with her?” Thinking of Lady Yang’s overly beautiful face, the little princess was a little nervous as she asked the question.

Everyone present was intelligent; not only did Cui Zi Xuan notice the little princess’s nervousness, but Old Madam Cui also noticed it. Old Madam Cui glanced at the little princess, secretly shaking her head, thinking, “These nouveau riche are hopeless. Even getting jealous with a widow like Lady Yang.”

But to Madam Cui’s surprise, upon hearing the young princess’s question, Cui Zi Xuan smiled and replied lightly, “Lady Yang is intelligent and has been very kind to the Cui family, so I’ve asked Ziying to get closer to her.”

Having explained this, Cui Zi Xuan looked at the young princess and said patiently, “Although Lady Yang is slightly older than the princess, she is truly excellent in every way. The Princess probably does not have such a remarkable woman by her side yet. If there’s an opportunity, the Princess can also spend more time with her.”

He was actually praising another woman’s virtues in front of a woman who admired him!

For a moment, the young Princess felt a mix of sourness, bitterness, and jealousy. Meeting Cui Zi Xuan’s smiling gaze, she suppressed her displeasure and simply said, “Brother Zi Xuan has never praised any other woman like this.

Hearing the little princess’s words, Cui Zi Xuan elegantly raised his teacup, took a sip, and then explained kindly, “That’s because I, Lord Cui, have never met such an outstanding woman before.” These words brought tears to the little princess’s eyes.

If anyone truly understood Cui Zi Xuan, it was Old Madam Cui. She looked at him suspiciously and asked casually, “Why did you keep praising Lady Yang today?”

Faced with his grandmother’s question, Cui Zi Xuan became much more serious. He sat up straight and replied, “If Grandmother has the time, she should spend more time with Lady Yang. Among women, if we are talking about talent, fortune, and discerning judgment, Lady Yang is unparalleled.”

Old Madam Cui had always been concerned about the Cui Clan of Boling’s future. Hearing her grandson’s words, she could not help but take it more seriously. “Is she really that outstanding?”

Cui Zi Xuan nodded. “Grandmother will know when she sees her.”

With that, he stood up, bowed slightly to Old Madam Cui, and said, “Grandson has other matters to attend to, so I will take my leave.” He then apologized to the little princess and gracefully withdrew.

The little princess watched him leave, thinking that she had finally managed to meet him, only to hear him praise another woman the entire time—a widow with a questionable reputation! The thought hurt her deeply, and her face flushed red with anger, tears welling in her eyes.

Old Madam Cui glanced at the little princess but pretended not to notice until the little princess finally took her leave. Only then did Old Madam Cui turn to the maid behind her and say, “Go and call Ziying over. Tell her that Grandmother has heard she’s on good terms with Lady Yang and asks her to invite Lady Yang to our house.”
