Chapter 58: One Sword Brings the Flowers
Up in the private booth, the white-robed scholar raised his eyebrows slightly. “The blue hills are faint while the river stretches into the horizon. Although late in autumn, the trees of Jiangnan have yet to shed their leaves. The Jiangnan Duan family’s Hidden Waters Formula. And he seems rather skillful at it. Your head disciple has underestimated him.”
Sikong Changfeng, however, looked on curiously. “Our head disciple used to walk around exuding an air of bitter resentment. A few months ago, he went out on a mission, and after coming back, he developed some personality. I haven’t noticed him for a few months, and he’s become competitive and prone to jealousy?”
“Da-shixiong, you messed up,” Xiao Se quipped beside him.
“Shut up, don’t look at him. Just pretend it wasn’t us!” Tang Lian retorted solemnly.
“It wasn’t me in the first place.” Xiao Se turned his head aside.

Duan Xuanyi looked around coldly and saw Tang Lian and Xiao Se not far away, failing to be less conspicuous. Although they weren’t doing anything out of the ordinary at that moment, some people just had a special air about them even when they were standing still.
“Who are they?” Duan Xuanyi asked.
“He’s da-shixiong, Tang Lian, and the one next to him is Third Shizun’s new disciple, Xiao Se,” Duan Xuanheng replied.

“I see, they’re disciples of Snow Moon City’s city masters. As for this Tang Lian? I have long heard of this name.” Duan Xuanyi smirked, then suddenly raised his hand slightly. “I’ve heard that Tang Sect has a hidden weapon called Heavenly Goddess Scatters Blossoms. I wonder, is it like this?” He tossed the wine that was once in a cup into the air, and as the droplets fell, they suddenly swerved and poured down in torrents towards Tang Lian and Xiao Se.
“Heavenly Goddess Scatters Blossoms?” Tang Lian snorted coldly, raising his hand, and stopped the spray in midair again.
“I don’t know if the technique Duan Xuanyi used was Heavenly Goddess Scatters Blossoms. Tang Lian, however, looks like he’s using the authentic Hidden Waters Formula.” The white-robed scholar smiled slightly.
Sikong Changfeng shook his head and corrected, “That’s not the Hidden Waters Formula. That’s a martial art created by my shixiong called Burgeoning Ocean.”
As soon as he spoke, all the wine in the cups sitting around Tang Lian suddenly gushed out, floating into the air and gathering around Tang Lian. The aroma of wine diffused through the air, and the expanse of wine converged into a long stream. Tang Lian waved his hand lightly, and the long river started a gentle flow. Xiao Se suddenly recalled that moonlit night when the man in the blue robes also gathered a stream of wine into a long river as he danced on the roof eaves. That was when he realized that these two men really looked like a master and disciple.
“Gege.” Duan Xuanheng was getting anxious. This was the oldest martial brother in his sect that all the disciples looked up to. He had also dueled with him before and understood very well how scary his martial arts was.
Duan Xuanyi took a step forward and smirked. “So, this is the legendary Burgeoning Ocean?”
“What about it?” Tang Lian asked slowly.
“Ocean? Looks more like a little pond.” Duan Xuanyi jumped up and stepped onto the long river!
Tang Lian waved his hand lightly, and the long river struck at Duan Xuanyi. Duan Xuanyi exerted his Dark Rivers Formula, and instead of retreating, he advanced and attempted to seize control of the long river.
If you form an ocean, I will take control of your ocean!
Tang Lian remained unfazed with a smile. He pulled up the long river and struck Duan Xuanyi head-on.
Suddenly, Duan Xuanyi took out the fan that he’d hung on his waist, snapped it open, and blocked the long river’s attack. He withdrew a few steps, pulled out the xiao on his left, and rushed at Tang Lian with a thrust.
“The moon shines on the twenty-four bridges; where will you teach the jade lady to play the xiao?” The white-robed scholar recited softly.
Twenty-four long bridges were painted on one side of the fan, and the xiao also had a splendid name, Bright Moon Night! With his fan in his right hand and the xiao in his left hand, his Duan family represented eight-tenths of Jiangnan’s distinguished style! This was a grand statement spoken by one of the former heads of the Duan family.
“Looks like the Duan family has high hopes for this eldest son, already letting him inherit that fan and xiao at such a young age. These martial arts are considered top class among the noble clans,” Sikong Changfeng said ruefully.
“How does he compare to your head disciple?” The white-robed scholar asked.
“Hidden Waters Formula, Twenty-Four Bridges fan, and Bright Moon Night xiao are all very powerful martial arts. But this head disciple of ours only used one move, which was that Burgeoning Ocean. Among the martial arts he has mastered, this doesn’t even rank in the top five. Tang Lian hasn’t even used his hidden weapons but forced the future head of the Duan family to pull out his Twenty-Four Bridges fan. Who do you think is more powerful?” Sikong Changfeng drank his cup of wine, taking his own sweet time.
“Tang-xiong’s martial arts are impressive,” Duan Xuanyi said in a deep voice. He had already exhausted all the martial arts he had mastered and executed over ten moves. But Tang Lian was still waving his long river around leisurely. He didn’t advance, nor did he show the slightest gap for Duan Xuanyi to take advantage of.
“Give up?” Tang Lian said slowly.

“Dream on!” Duan Xuanyi gritted his teeth, and suddenly, he turned the fan around.
A silver light flashed!
Sikong Changfeng’s spear flew into his hand instantly.
The long sword beside the white-robed scholar suddenly began to vibrate.
The Twenty-Four Bridges fan had twenty-three bridges on the front side: Mingyue, Qingfeng, Anping, Fengyu, Huaman, Wuping, Yudai, Guanyue, Tingfeng, Denglu, Ziyan, Yuexi, Yeqi, Xuelai, Yuegui, Qinyin, Qijue, Huaxiang, Chenmie, Dongsheng, Chunlei, and Jixiao. Every name was the epitome of elegance. The reverse side only had one bridge; its name was Broken.
The elegance vanished, leaving only life and death!
When that silver light flashed, countless needles flew towards Tang Lian.
“Hidden weapons! Despicable!” Someone exclaimed with indignance.
“I’m using hidden weapons to kill a Tang Sect person. How is that despicable?” Duan Xuanyi retorted angrily!
Tang Lian retreated frantically, but this move, “Broken”, in the Twenty-Four Bridges fan was actually constructed by a Tang Sect member based on one of Tang Sect’s top hidden weapons, Tempest Pear Blossom Needles. It was extremely dangerous!
“Let me.” The white-robed scholar stood up, preparing to use his sword to save Tang Lian. Within the Misty Rain Pavilion, there were only three people who could save Tang Lian: him, Sikong Changfeng, and Tang Lian himself.
Sikong Changfeng could do it, but if the dignified head disciple of Snow Moon City was defeated within his own sect and had to rely on the city master to save his life, it would be a stain of great shame.
Of course Tang Lian could save himself, but there would be only one outcome, and that was Duan Xuanyi would undoubtedly die.
At this moment, it was most appropriate for the white-robed scholar to intervene, even though he didn’t want to reveal his identity.

Suddenly, the flash of a sword attacked.
It brought with it a cold aura, yet pulsed with a red light.
The first wave of sword aura cut down the countless flying needles.
A suit of red clothes stood in the middle of the courtyard.
He exerted a second sword aura.
This time, Duan Xuanyi was forced to retreat over ten steps until he vomited fresh blood and fell to his knees.
A third wave of sword aura.
The white-robed scholar put down his sword, a look of surprise in his eyes. “Moonlit Night and Flowering Dawn?”
Under this wave of sword aura, all the flowers of the Full Blossom Festival in Misty Rain Pavilion shed their petals in an instant and floated towards that sword. The multitude of colors were vibrant and vivid as they piled up and danced in the wind around the sword. The mass of flowers were luxuriant and bloomed with flourish. Standing right at the source of the flourishing blossoms was none other than Lei Wujie.
Finally, he could earn the title successor of the sword immortal, Lei Wujie!
Sikong Changfeng slapped the table and shot to his feet. “Fuck it! The disciple takes after the shifu! Once he appears, my Full Blossom Festival is defoliated!”
